When Jamie Hawksworth and Jonathon Holdsworth – business partners in the Sheffield Tap– decided to invest in the near derelict Edwardian waiting rooms at Sheffield’s Midland Station, they knew they needed the help of experts in restorative plaster work.
Hodkin & Jones were asked to come to site to inspect the original ceiling. It was evident from our survey that it was unsafe and needed reinstating. Our specialist contracts team went to site and took sections down, bringing them back to our workshops to recreate the mouldings.
Our fixing team, along with our special division supervisor then returned to site and set about fixing the ceiling. The results can be seen here and are part of the reason that the Sheffield Tap has just received the Renovation of the Year award from the National Railway Heritage Trust.
